Some interface oddities but a nice reasonably pocketable powerhouse

The E12C is an interesting, older model that I grabbed because of the combined discounts going on with the "clean sale" and the fact that I could get it with the new FFL emitters.

The switch on mine has a tactile click and consistent engagement, although there is a bit of a ring mark on it, possibly a manufacturing 'defect' although its not super noticeable and I can't feel it with my fingernail.

Physically, a well made light. The approach for hiding the USB charging port is not unheard of in flashlights, but it's definitely not the norm in this type of light. Certainly not as convenient as Firefly's new 2024 magnetic covers. I've also had issues with the oring getting pinched, although it only happened once and the oring was still holding together so I haven't replaced it yet. The light does include plenty of extra orings, so it seems like this could be a known issue.

Another thing to note is that this has had a liquid electrical tape fix applied to the usb c port on the inside of the battery tube. Without this there were some issues of shorts because the battery's positive end could get close enough to touch in some cases. This is good to see, but is certainly something I'd keep an eye on if i were changing batteries a lot, in case it needed to be re-coated due to wear.

Beam pattern with the FFL emitters has a hot spot, but it's broad and transitions slowly to spill which also tapers off gradually. No rings or artifacts, it's a nice beam.

The version of Anduril on here is 2, but as I discovered after research, it doesn't run the full version of Anduril 2 because the driver doesn't have enough storage to hold it. The included version behaved inconsistently with what I expect from Anduril 2 in some ways. I couldn't seem to disable the post-off voltage check and it doesn't have the soft start of newer versions of Anduril 2. Fortunately, I found that lone oceans made their own version of a newer release of Anduril 2 that dropped some features (like tactical iirc) in favor of keeping others and it behaves more in line with my expectations from soft start to being able to configure settings as I wanted. They have those here, if you're interested: https://loneoceans.com/labs/temp/anduril/

At the discounted price, I'd have no complaints about it, and with the alternate firmware I like it even more. I fully expect this to get used and abused and look forward to seeing how it does.

Outstanding, with some caveats

What a fantastic light. I would be able to rate it 5 stars if I had not first tried the new Canon and X1S models! The sheer light output on the E12C is remarkeable though. I especially like the W1 emitter option which seems to have phased out, but the FF emitter version is more well-rounded and pleasant even if it doesn't shine as far. The downside of this model is definitely the inconsistent button, which is too stiff in two of my three E12C's. I know FF has already improved on this, however, as the buttons on their newer models are outrageously good! I have also had a little trouble programming these lights consistently, but it's probably user error and not the products. The built-in magnet is very strong and on-board charging is a nice touch. The latest E12C I purchased also had an extra layer of insulation on the inside of tbe battery tube to protect against potential shorts when used with damaged flat top batteries. It's obvious to me that Fireflylite is constantly innovating and improving their products, as well as their customer support!

Great light

I got a rainbow 4000k with the new ffl emitters on the clean sale. The beam profile and tint are perfect! It also have a partially regulated driver that makes it very useful, thanks Jack for making such a. Masterpiece!

Beast of a light!

Love the E12c! While we were patiently waiting for the e12r to make its return we were presented with the amazing e12c. It's new design was executed well. The built in charging port behind the threads are an awesome feature! And it's nice the other 12 emitter optics are compatible also. It's only downfall that was recently discovered is the small clearance between the battery and charging port that has caused a short on a users light. While not common it is unsafe. That's the only reason she doesn't get 5 stars...
